Had dinner at Northland Ave Pub tonight. First and last time. Service was ridiculous, food was atrocious. My husband and I had the Friday fish. He had the perch, which he could barely eat because there were so many bones. I understand perch is a bony fish, but this was unreal. The battered haddock was so salty. We both ordered tartar with it, which we had to ask for twice. The waitress stated they were out and making more, but then watched her take a bottle off of a table who was leaving and throw it on our table and walk away. After asking for refills (after we choked down our meals without anything to drink because the waitress never returned) we waited so long that we decided to pay at the bar and leave. Definitely will not be returning. Every moment of our experience was terrible!!

We were really dissappointed with Van Abels Resturant in Hollandtown today. We had reservations fo 12 people at 1 and the hostess seated us at a differant table and we didnt get our food until 1:55. I had to ask twice when we were going to be served until I finally asked the right hostess. Our waitress was really slow in bringing more food to us. People weer seated at other tables after us and had their food and were leaving before we were served our food.

Hubby and I decided to try Wildflower Pizzeria Saturday night—and so did everybody else in town, judging by the crowd! 😉 It would have been a 40 minute wait, but we ended up running into some friends who were nearer the top of the waitlist—and since the larger tables looked to be opening up quicker, the friendly and gracious hostess changed their table request and allowed us to join them. First off, it doesnt look like any “pizza joint†Ive seen… Its light and bright and airy—very modern. Lots of round tables for 5-6 in the middle, didnt notice any booths along the wall as you might expect. The chairs had a light-colored fabric texture, which might not hold up well against dripped sauces… for the messy eaters among us. The floor was so slick that when we pulled our chairs out from the table they actually slid out of our hands! (Someone with balance issues could potentially get hurt, but they would make for some great post-closure wait-staff races across the room 🤣). Menu was still limited, so Im interested to get a peak at the full offering. Our companions ordered garlic bread—fresh roasted garlic that you squeezed out and spread on toasted bread. It looked delicious to me, but I dont think it was what they were expecting. Hubby had the 4 cheese pizza with ($14 with sausage added for $3) and found it tasty. I had the white sauce wild mushroom pizza ($16) and also added sausage for $3. Plenty of mushrooms, sausage was fairly skimpy (on both pizzas) and not as flavorful as we would have hoped—and the pizza was, overall, lacking in seasoning. I had to flag down our waitress to request salt and crushed red pepper—both which were happily provided in little pinch dishes—but that made it uncomfortable to share around the table as we were dipping in our fingers… Just that little additional salt created much more depth of flavor, though. I do think the crust from the wood-fired oven was perfectly executed, and deliciously chewy. We will totally try them again once they get some traction, but little things like condiments on the table, ice in the water, not having to ask for drink refills when empty, shorter wait time on food delivery will all be expected at that time. It will be interesting to see what the valley thinks of a small cheese pizza costing $14, though… Edited to add: located on Casaloma right next to Golf Galaxy and Pier 1 Imports.

Hubby and I went to Town Council for dinner last night and learned a lesson about the importance of doing research. This was our first visit and we really didnt know what to expect. They had a very limited menu and both of us had a very hard time reading the tiny letters. There wasnt much of an explanation of the menu and a lot of it was in Spanish and hard to understand. We ordered the Queso Fundido and hubby asked if he could substitute flour tortillas instead of corn because of sensitivities to corn. They were very accommodating and even grilled up the flour tortillas. I had the Ceviche because I knew what that was and it was very good. Hubby had the Carnitas Torta and it was ok. We were hoping for salsa and realized that was an option on the menu but it was too late to order. My Margarita was one of the best I have ever had so it was all worth it. Our server was very attentive and Im sure would have explained the menu if we knew what to ask. Not a great experience but we will be back and do our research next time.

So I decided to stop in here after work, havent been for a few years. Asked for a 16 sausage mushroom onion, but asked for canned mushrooms, because the fresh make the pizza to wet for our preference. The dark haired lady behind the counter takes a can from a back shelf and slams it on the counter and says I should put it on myself when I get home. Ok? She was rude to another couple when they came in to order as well. Complaining about no bread for subs, making potato salad for people who dont pick it up after ordering. Just plainly unprofessional. I think my money will be better spent elsewhere in the future.

Question since I dont go out to eat a lot…10 of my gal friends and I went to soleas in Appleton the other night. I prefer the Menasha location but with a large group we decided to give it a try.. Everything we ordered was delish, the waiter was good, my problem came at time to pay our bills. Those of us paying by cash were asked if we needed our change back, most of us said yes, as we were leaving a larger tip at the table. when he returned all of us no matter what the change was did not receive the coins, I for example should have received $1.85, I received $1.00… Is this standard practice? my friends were a bit upset and then decided, since they felt wronged, not to leave a tip… I did leave a nice tip but am just curious?
