Anyone explain to meet how come the new Indian in PDC, Chutney Mary has only been opened a couple of months and I walk past every night on my way to work and there is never more than 3 or 4 tables occupied but they have gone to number 2 on TripAdvisor with over 70 excellent reviews 45 in one month of which 40 of them are posted by 1st time reviewers and most of the other reviews are from non English or Irish customers by the way all of the other Indian restaurants on the strip have only received an average of 10 reviews in the same period Umm

Today we were at Deiland and decided to try the new Sushi ðŸ£restaurant. The menu was €12.90 it consists of 4 choices and deserts. We chose the duck rolls for 1/, the sushi for 2/ and 3/was for me the crispy salmon and my friend had the maki accompanied by 4/ the noodles followed by the mochi and chocolate rolls. With a small beer, and a sin alcohol beer the bill was €28 I thought that was excellent. The service was great, they brought water for Dexter and he was made welcome. Will definitely go back when I am next in Deiland.

Sorry I have deleted the posts containing Trip Advisor reviews as there were getting too many, we want real reviews from people who are here visiting I am happy to post one or two but this is not really the idea of the group. So what I am asking restaurant owners to do is ask your clients to post on here and do a review for you. The odd advert from restaurants is fine but we are ending up with just being a page of adverts and trip Advisor reviews. So come on get reviewing members because real reviews seem to be a bit thin on the ground. To keep the page active I do post the odd advertisement otherwise we lose our position and stop being an active group. The group is only as good as its members and with the season starting in earnest we want those reviews coming in. Owners if you post something about your restaurant how about a little incentive like offering members mentioning they saw it on this website a little freebie and remind your customers about our page and get them to say something in person about your service and food. So – my first review. Weve been coming to Lanzarote for about 13 years, and to be fair, have only ever had 4 poor meals. We always try at least one new restaurant on each trip. Last night we went to La Lanterna for the first time – on the Avenida in PDC, up some stairs by the American Indian bar. Some friends had recommended it to us, so we thought we would give it a try. Its quite small inside but looks lovely and the waiting staff were very welcoming. The majority of the tables were by a window. We were asked if we would prefer a window table – a wait of 5 mins while someone paid the bill, or have one of the others. As it was dark, so no view, and we still quite like talking to each other, we werent bothered! The waiter explained the specials – one sounded lovely, but we opted to order from the normal menu. We chose a carpaccio of beef braseola to share, and then a tagliatelle bolognaise and meatballs with spaghetti. We ordered half a bottle of Chianti and a large bottle of water ( we have learnt with age that this is a better outcome in the morning if we dont have a full bottle of wine and a small water!) Carpaccio is one of my favourite starters. This was a cured rather than a raw beef ( as it was braseola) but it was still delicious. We didnt finish it all as we wanted to leave room for the main course. We didnt eat any of the bread that came with it either. The waiter seemed concerned but we assured him that we had enjoyed it. There was a decent gap before our main dish arrived. Both were excellent. The meatballs in particular were really really good and I think were definitely homemade. As is normal in Italian restaurants – both were the never ending pasta dish! We both ate until we were full – which was about half of the pasta. Again the waiter was very concerned that we hadnt enjoyed it as we had left quite a bit. We reassured him that we had and that we neither of us have large appetites. We werent offered deserts – but to be honest we didnt want any! Overall – the service was attentive without being annoying, the gap between courses was just right, and the food great. We had to ask for the drinks when the starter arrived – but was sorted immediately. We asked for the bill and were offered a lemoncello. The bill was 39.50€ which frankly I thought was extremely good value (with no charge for the bread) The lemoncello was one of the nicest Ive ever had – it was a homemade one. We told them that – then he offered us another one! (You can buy it for 14€ a litre. They will have some next week – the chap also told me that they make orangcello as well) Would we go again – oh yes!

Last night we went to another new ( for us ) restaurant. Well – Im counting as a new one as we havent been for 12 years! We went to Pinochios on the Avenida, in PDC. We wanted steak on a stone and had been told on Need to Know that they did that there. We got there and was offered a table inside or outside. We chose outside, and went to sit. The waiter told us to wait as he hadnt cleared it yet. But he did that immediately. He was a bit sharp, but I think that was lost in the translation. He was very nice after and explained how the steak on a stone works. We sat down, ordered our drinks and meal. They then split the table, as it was originally for 4 people. Then after having got our drinks, we were then asked if we could move to another table behind as there wouldnt be enough room for the hot stones. (Not a big problem, but they did know what we had ordered when they split off the other table.) We shared a Garlic prawns, which were nice, a bit under seasoned if Im being hyper critical. The steaks arrived – they were huge. One with chips, one with canarian potatoes – there was 8 which is a lot in a portion as you normally get 3 or 4. The waiter then cuts the steak into strips and they carry on sizzling on the hot stone. The meat was very tender. We have both had this style of steak in Mainland Spain, where the stone gets replaced when it cools, the steak is on a separate plate and you cook a bit of steak at a time so it is always cooked how you like it, eat a bit, chat a bit etc, but because the whole lot was cooked immediately, it was a lot of meat to eat in one go, and some of it ended up being a bit over done. Which you could argue is your own fault as youre cooking it! My chips were a bit underdone, but I dont eat many and the meat was so good, it wasnt a problem for me. So – half a bottle of red, a small bottle of water, a garlic prawns and bread, and 2 fillet steaks on a stone. The bill was 62€ including tip. Pretty good value to be honest, for the quality and size of the steak. We had a chupito of something pink and horrible – sadly not a honey rum 🙁 The loos are down a spiral staircase – be careful if youve had more than a glass of wine and/or youre wearing stupid shoes!! I probably wouldnt go back for that dish as it wasnt what I was expecting for a steak on a stone. The atmosphere was buzzy and the restaurant was full. Other people had a normal steak and it did look good. The service was good too ( after the first little hiccup!) But we have a favourite place for steak, which has a much better setting on the beach front, so we would go there instead in the future.

I hope its ok to ask a question admins? Does anyone know the name of the two tapas bars in Playa Honda, near La Caleta? One of my favorites, La Caleta is so successful that it is frequently full, especially at the weekend. So last time I visited with friends we could not get a seat there and ate fish kebabs at the third one along. I want to take a friend there on Sunday, but because its Easter I want to book in advance. I cant think of the name of the place! Can anyone help?

Himalaya Restaurant:- 1st Jan 2018 The worst take out Ive had. The chicken was rank, the Naan was dry virtually inedible mixed starter chicken also rank the lamb tasted unlike Lamb. Clearly the food had seen better days and I guess it was my unfortunate luck to be the one guy to order take out in the afternoon on New Years Day. Once I arrived home (55e lighter) I telephoned to speak to the manager and complain, also to give him the opportunity to make amends. Think it was Rashid or Ramesh that I spoke to, he wasnt interested, took him all his time to utter an apology no refund no voucher not even a discount of the next visit. Wouldnt eat there or recommend this restaurant ever.

Isnt it a pity that it is often the case that the tourist restaurants churn out awful food, off hand service and are a total rip off! I took my daughter to the Asian restaurant in the Old Town PDC. (Her choice!) Not a nice experience…… Luckily we have so many amazing restaurants here on Lanzarote!

Bistro Real – a real treat! Chef German Blanco from la tegala opened this place last week and i just had to go and try it. Two of us walked in, asked for a table but no one had a clue what the were doing. Then we stood at the bar untill some said our table will be ready in a few minutes. While we were waiting we had a tapa(pintxo) at the bar bread was soggy but the topping was good. Once at the table menu seemed interesting so we ordered 4 starters and a main between two of us, portions were smalll and fine, but accordingly priced too so thats a plus as you can order more variety. I also spotted a lunch menu pretty well priced according to the area in which the place is situated (arrecife centre) The scallops were absolutely amazing, their take on thai prawn curry, unique but mind blowing never tried something like it before. The meat canelonis with truffle bechamel beautiful aswell. The rissoto was a new one, red wine and oxtail….i love beef so enjoyed the strong meaty taste, rice cooked to perfection. The main course for two which was the lamb was delicious just un evenly cooked some cuts were a bit dry. Dessert was a home made cake but instead of being layerd everything was but separately on the plate. Amazing!!! Being a newly opened ventures i can understand the lack of organization in the service but food was spot on. We paid arround 80€ with wine. Not bad for soemthing of that quality. Will deffiantely return.
