The Ask Google Anything panel at the end of SMX is always chockful of useful SEO nuggets. Todays talk with Gary and Mariya did not disappoint. Here are some great takeaways that most of us knew, some of us suspected, and all of us should review: – The Mobile-First index is months away. At least June or after. – It is confirmed that Mobile Page Speed will be a Ranking Factor in the Mobile-First Index. It will replace Desktop signals. – Google does not have a Domain Authority metric but individual Page/URL Authority does exist. – Authorship is dead. Its never coming back. – For featured snippets its ALL content quality. Relevant and well-structured. (links, structured data, etc, not used) – Wikidata entities are THE most popular source of information for the Knowledge Graph – There is no specific % of 404s that hurt your rankings. None. – Google still has no plans to use Social Signals to rank pages. – Length of content on a page is NOT a ranking factor. Answer the query and move on. – Again, Duplicate Content is NOT a penalty. But you can dilute signals and shoot yourself in the foot. – Google is doing its best to automatically discount bad links but they make mistakes. So keep disavowing. – The Fred update was a Quality Update — the answers as to what to address are laid out in the Google Webmaster & Quality Rater Guidelines (no other comment than that) Oh, and a funny point today when it was discovered that Google does not rank on the 1st page of Google for Search Engine. LOL.

Not necessarily an SEO question…but Im having a clients website (Currently HTML static website) getting re-designed on WordPress with e-commerce functionality with Woocommerce. On his current site, he has no e-commerce functionality as the user just fills out the product quantity manually and then goes through a secure online process. (It’s literally just one product). The client wants me to let the developer know that the order page on his current website is how he receives his orders. So will Woocommerce not work? Would it be my job to educate him on how to process orders on Woocommerce and how it works?

Back with the question about Shopify – it will be really helpful if somebody could help me. So my client setups 2nd shop on Shopify. It has multiple categories. Thing is that some of the products are in more than one category, which results in multiple URLs for the same products: /product-page/ /collection/category1/product-page/ /collection/category2/product-page/ /collection/category3/product-page/ and so on. Shopify developer we are working with now says that there is no possibilities to switch only to short URL and stop using dynamic routing. To be honest I would prefer to use only short links to products across all existing categories so there is no possibility to generate multiple URLs. Is it even possible? Ive placed canonicals already but I would like to minimize situations when Google has to decide about doing something. Admins – if I will find information in other groups – I will remove post from here because its not pure SEO question.

Im renaming some of the products on my site and I have a dumb question…I sell multiple different types of break apart chocolate bar molds. One of them I want to name 2 ounce break apart chocolate bar mold. Would it be better to call it 2 oz or 2 ounce? Also which would be better, putting the 2 ounce up front or naming it Break Apart Bar Chocolate Mold 2 oz ? Final question, does my URL need to match my product title?

Dumb SEO Question: I have a client whos got multiple websites built for Tours They are all somewhat different but in the end are offering the same thing just worded differently I feel like she should focus on one domain and promote rank that one rather than competing with her other domains and trying to rank all of them at once. What would you guys do? I guess I could tell her to rank all of them and make way more money. But I feel like focusing on one will get her better results as they are going to compete for eachother and may make customers confused.
