I took my 4 and 7 year old grandkids an Appleton restaurant for an early dinner today followed by a chocolate cookie dessert. Neither of them like nuts or whipped cream, so requested without these two items. The dessert came with both. We sent it back and received what I thought was a new dessert, but it was obvious about half way through when we hit several nuts that they had simply tried to remove the nuts from the original dessert and then covered with ice cream. Luckily, my grandkids simply dont like nuts. If this had been my nephew, with a severe nut allergy, it could have been life threatening. I informed the cashier, who appreciated the information, but was disappointed she didnt offer to remove the cost if the dessert. If I hadnt had a tired 4 year old on the verge of a meltdown, I would have addressed this with a manager. I did message the restaurant this evening to make them aware additional training on nut allergies might be needed. For those who have certain food allergies, this is just a reminder to make allergies known at the time of ordering. Note:. The restaurant is Good Company in Appleton. I just received a response. They immediately discussed this situation with their night manager upon receiving my message and will be reviewing the need seriousness of this with staff. If this were an allergy situation, I would still mention the allergy at the time of ordering…regardless of which restaurant!

I was hesitating on posting this but,,,here I go. Hubby and I decided to try Parma this past Saturday. Hubby has lost 45 pounds on a life change diet which does not allow him to have pasta so our choice to go to Parma was not a good one. We figured there would be something he could eat there that would not include pasta. Our waitress (who was very good) listed off the special for the day but we had to ask the prices which were quite expensive. The menu had many items that were marked as MP. Hubby decided on the pork chop which gave the price as MP (how is that for a pork chop?). The waitress came back to say that they were out of pork chops (this was 5:30). We decided not to eat there and were very apologetic about taking up the table. The chef or manager came to our table and made a big deal (in a nice but also forceful way) about trying to accommodate hubbys diet which wasnt possible. He seemed to argue with the waitress about trying to make us stay. My point is that we made a mistake for choosing to go there but the whole situation could have been much more low key since we paid for our drink and left a generous tip. We had a big problem with items listed as MP and having to ask how much the specials were. I have been at very fancy restaurants where the prices are not listed, I did not think Parma was such a place. This may have been just a bad choice for us all around.

My sister and her husband went to Franks for pizza last night early. There were many families there with kids. Anyway, when it was time for them to order they asked for 2 glasses of wine and the pizza of their choice. The pizza came in a matter of minutes and they had not gotten their wine yet and their were no plates or silverware yet on the table and also no shake on cheese or peppers! They had to ask the waitress for these and ask where was the wine??? They were shocked at the poor service but said the pizza was good but really, should the wine have not been served first and plates and silverware in place?? They are now wondering if they care to go back as the price is very high to eat their and did not seem organized. I guess I would not want that kind of non service.

We are new to the area so we are still seeking out our favorite places. We are having a hard time finding pizza we like. Pizza here in Wisconsin is different than in lower Michigan. The other night we checked out Luigis in Neenah. We walked in to eat nearly empty restaurant. Not a good sign. The soda pop was so weak we had to ask for cans. Got a hand tossed pizza because we like a thicker crust, But parts of the crust were burnt and the flavor just didnt cut it. On the other hand, we also had the spaghetti. The meat sauce was very flavorful although a little lacking the meat part. Overall, we would go back to try other things on the menu but seek our pizza fix elsewhere.
