Raphael Anomah: Breathing can also be considered to external respiration but when we talk of respiration, it involves gaseous exchange( oxygen and carbon dioxide) between the external environment-blood[external respiration] and the blood-cells[internal respiration]The moment we refer to it as the breakdown of nutrient, then we are talking about catabolism.

Raphael Anomah: Please respiration is in stages in which breathing is also part and you are limiting its definition to only one part, even that, it is not only carbon dioxide that is produced but water also.
