Random – Do I need special cookware for Okinawa stovetops? Ie: induction cookware (magnetic creating electric current that heats pans etc). Few friends going to mainland Japan and they were given conflicting info so wanted to clarify. 🙂

Arielle Warren: Two of my four burns on my electric stovetop require IH pans/pots. The other two I can use any pan/pot.

Anna Garza: Our stove requires IH pots/pans.

Rosalie Campbell: Hi Karen I worked with Adrian for the last couple years at balboa. My wife and I got to Okinawa in February. Looking forward to your arrival! We live out in town. Have a gas range. We are using all our stuff from SD. No need for new items. The kitchens and layout take some getting used to, but all in all its awesome here! Please let me know if you have questions!

Fatima Jennings: Hey Bill! Not buying new (trust me) lol just answering a question some friends brought up today. Super helpful! Wouldnt have even thought about it honestly. 🤷🏻‍♀️ we are looking forward to getting to Oki! See you soon! (End of july)

Fatima Jennings: Thank you for comments!

Travis Cross: I found this to be an interesting question and wanted to dig deeper to prepare ourselves for the potential challenge coming to OKI. In doing some quick reading, there are adaptive plates that you can buy to “convert” IH to a cooktop that can be used with non-IH compatible cookware: Artestia 7-1/4 or 9-1/4 Induction Hob Heat Diffuser Aluminum / Stainless Steel Disc with Heat Proof Handle (7-1/4 Disc) Amazon.com (just one example).
