Not necessarily an SEO question…but Im having a clients website (Currently HTML static website) getting re-designed on WordPress with e-commerce functionality with Woocommerce. On his current site, he has no e-commerce functionality as the user just fills out the product quantity manually and then goes through a secure online process. (It’s literally just one product). The client wants me to let the developer know that the order page on his current website is how he receives his orders. So will Woocommerce not work? Would it be my job to educate him on how to process orders on Woocommerce and how it works?
Dean Hammond: With WordPress + the Woocommerce plugin, the order process will use the Woocommerce purchase flow. If it’s just one product, a user would essentially click to buy, and be taken into the purchase funnel. Everything can be setup via the plugin to be pretty flawless, so I don’t suspect they’ll need that order form anymore.
Julie Singleton: The only problem with Woo or any self hosted cart is PCI compliance. As long as they stick to solutions like Stripe for payment and don’t use their own merchant account, PCI is someone else’s problem.
