Hi everyone, I have a quick dumb SEO question: I have two web pages that show the same product but in two different languages, there is no translation of the product name itself so the pages are currently sharing the same h1 product titles, my understanding is it’s never a good idea to have two pages competing for the same keywords so what would be the best solution from an SEO standpoint? Should I be using canonical to only focus on one of them?

Adaline Bailey: my understanding is it’s never a good idea to have two pages competing for the same keywords <-- First of all, thats wrong. There are many queries where two or more pages are served from the same site. The search engine decides what to put into those search results. There is nothing wrong with having two relevant pages for the same topic. However, in this case youre talking about two pages using different languages except for the H1 elements. If there is no translation for the product name but everything else is translated you should be fine.

Jace Mclaughlin: My suggestion would be to still provide the content in the local language. Hreflang is used so Google can serve the right content to right audience and what good is is going to be if the content that you have is not translated?
